24 Hours in the Old Pueblo

Muddy Bike and Truck

The 24 Hour race is an annual mountain bike race held by Epic Rides. People come from all over to camp for 2 or 3 days and ride in this race. Thousands of people camped out in the Tortilla Mountains to ride, volunteer, or support their riders. A small town popped up on Friday, Feb. 14th, including bike vendors, food vendors, and even a radio station. The race started Saturday, Feb. 15th at noon and ended Sunday, Feb. 16th at noon. It rained and snowed all day Friday while people were setting up camp. It was bitterly cold that night. When the race started on Saturday, the first riders for each team had to run up a very muddy hill to get to their bikes. The day was cold but Saturday night was bitterly cold again. Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day.
